This is some of the most meaningful work I do, and it is also the work where I am most careful about what I promise.

How scarred skin behaves

Scar tissue can be tighter, thinner, or more textured than the skin around it, and it often varies across a single area. Ink can sit differently from one inch to the next.

Design choices that work

• Organic movement rather than rigid straight geometry across the tissue
• Lighter packing directly over the scar, heavier work in the skin around it
• Shapes that use the texture instead of pretending it is not there

Test areas and pacing

I often suggest a small test area first so we both see how your skin takes ink. Sessions are shorter, I work in gentler passes, and I stop when the skin has had enough.

Touch ups are more common with scar work. I plan for them rather than treating them as a failure.
